YPS CEO Luncheons Connect Present and Future

Thursday, December 1, 2016

The Young Professional Society (YPS) of Springfield continues to hosts its monthly CEO Luncheons.  In mid-November YPS welcomed Lee Vardakas, CEO of Aegis Energy Services, Inc. in Holyoke as the keynote speaker.  The interactive presentation held at the UMass Center included a discussion of business start-ups, professional development strategies, succession planning, being passionate about one’s work, and the overlap of personal and professional lives.

“My presentation shows how my family life, my professional life and my passion all align,” Vardakas told the audience from varying industries.  “You have to be passionate about your work and have a professional and personal support system.” He shared  how he and his father started the company in the basement of their Westfield home in 1985.  Over three decades later, Aegis is planning yet another expansion at the headquarters in Holyoke.  Another highlight during the luncheon, was the “big reveal” by organizers about a major change in the programming brand.

“We have decided to change the series name to the YPS Leadership Luncheon,” announced Amie Miarecki, YPS Luncheon Committee Co-chair.  “This change reflects the variety of speakers we present and the need to expose attendees to more leaders in the region.”  The next luncheon will be hosted at Elms College on December 7th at 11:45am.  The feature presenter will be Elms President Sister Mary Reap, Ph.D.  The UMass Center at Springfield is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the fall series.  For more information about YPS, visit www.springfieldyps.com.
