The Healthy Development Initiative (HDI) is the research arm of the UMass Amherst Psychological and Brian Sciences Department. HDI seeks to understand and promote the psychological and physical health and well-being of children, adolescents, adults, and seniors in our communities. “Resilience” is the inaugural theme for HDI.
This group of UMass scientists and students collaborate with community partners to share new knowledge about human development. They also conduct research, education and outreach projects regarding human development across the lifespan in the Greater Springfield area. Dr. Kirby Deater-Deckard is the Program Director.
