The JELUPA Productions public reading of the play "The Forgotten Spirit"

The Springfield-based Jelupa Productions recently held a public reading of the play "The Forgotten Spirit," based on the book of the same name by author Evie Rhodes, at the UMass Center in Springfield.

The play is an adaptation of the book The Forgotten Spirit (A CHRISTMAS TALE) by Novelist Evie Rhodes and is historically considered to be the first African-American Christmas story in the U.S. based on the gospels of Jesus Christ.

Adapted and produced for stage by Leslie "L'Kuicha" Parks of JELUPA Productions, Inc., it is scheduled to be first brought to stage in the greater Springfield area during the 2017 holiday season. Auditions for the play will take place later in August.
