Community

The principles of academic accessibility and engagement are built into the Center, literally and figuratively. The Center is also committed to engagement that reaches past those who take classes with us. A key component of our model is to work with non-profit business and civic leaders in order to identify needs and trends as related to workforce development and the potential for contributing to broader economic growth.

We are doing more than listening to ideas: we are putting our resources behind them. The Center's meeting spaces, telecommunications, and video conferencing capabilities are available for use by businesses and not-for-profit organizations in the area. Just as we seek to prepare students for the fast-evolving needs of the contemporary workplace, we seek to support area employers responding to a fast-evolving competitive landscape.

The Center enables our students to put down meaningful roots in Springfield. Our resources and those who come to access them — students and community members alike — contribute vitality and vibrance in the region's gateway city. For so many professionals working in greater Springfield, the UMass Center puts University of Massachusetts, and its strategic partners, at their doorstep.
